About Slow Dakota

Slow Dakota started out as the solo recording project of Indiana-native, PJ Sauerteig, fresh from his break with New York-based band, Jeffers Win. Sauerteig now spends his summers recording, and attends Columbia University full-time during the school year. In New York, he’s hand picked some of Columbia/Julliard’s finest musicians to flesh out Slow Dakota’s live show; made up of philosophy, music, and writing majors, his live troupe is thrilling and deeply talented. Recently, Sauerteig has been testing out new material with intimate shows at Slake, Trash Bar, etc., and recently released a live LP to anticipate “The Junior EP.” Marrying Baroque influences with backwater harmonies, Slow Dakota is a majestic live show. Brooklyn's The Wild Honey Pie was an early supporter of Sauerteig's records, calling them: "eccentric," "gorgeous:" "his vocal style is simple and straightforward, so much so that it may cause some to overlook the genius within his compositions."
